welovepaintings: Sir Stanley Spencer (1891 - 1959) Gardens in the Pound, Cookham The Pound is a street in the artist’s home town of Cookham. The circular flowerbeds in the gardens are exactly like the one my grandparents had. I remember Grandma being delighted to find some rope edging for her flower bed, and that she always had some of those flowers in it. Perhaps she was remembering flowerbeds of her younger days.
